Matius 24:5

24:5 For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ ¹  and they will mislead many.

Matius 24:10-13

24:10 Then many will be led into sin, ²  and they will betray one another and hate one another. 24:11 And many false prophets will appear and deceive ³  many, 24:12 and because lawlessness will increase so much, the love of many will grow cold. 24:13 But the person who endures to the end will be saved. ⁴ 

Matius 24:24

24:24 For false messiahs ⁵  and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

[24:5]  ¹ tn Or “Messiah”; both “Christ” (Greek) and “Messiah” (Hebrew and Aramaic) mean “one who has been anointed.”

[24:10]  ² tn Or “many will fall away.” This could also refer to apostasy.

[24:11]  ³ tn Or “and lead many astray.”

[24:13]  ⁴ sn But the person who endures to the end will be saved. Jesus was not claiming here that salvation is by works. He was simply arguing that genuine faith evidences itself in persistence through even the worst of trials.
